Selected to oversee creative direction in the absence of a formal lead, reviewing content and mechanics to ensure they support the game's vision
Responsible for the action economy, using Microsoft Excel to build mathematical and visual models to balance game's economy and progression
Designed the template for content design in Microsoft Excel, including calculations for designers to evaluate if their content meets design targets, appropriate distribution of difficulty, and a user-friendly tool to display steps the player would need to take to solve every puzzle
Throughout the development of Ravenwood Academy, I have learned much in what it takes to develop a project from the ground up at a larger company. As development progressed, I grew into the responsibility of having a more holistic view of the experience, representing the design intent while collaborating with Narrative and Art departments on game details from start to finish.
On Wizard101, the systemic and economic models are long established from many years of refinement. I learned to evaluate systems and present conclusions using these established models.
On a new project, there is no such establishment. I've expanded my ability to apply these methods in something new, to build a structure from key directional decisions about the intended player experience. In addition, I've developed much more proficiency with Microsoft Excel, better utilizing its formulas and formatting tools to organize and glean information.
